A Quiet Week 2019
After the hectic first week of the season the week just gone was a quiet affair with only three matches taking place.
In Division 2 there were 2 interclub matches. Morriston C played host to the Morriston D and in similar fashion to their A team lost to the nominally lower ranked team. 3-2 in favour of the D’s.
De la Beche B, however, made no mistakes against their C team and annihilated them 5-0 helped in part by a board 4 default.
Division 3 had just the 1 match when Morriston G travelled to Briton Ferry and played BF Brunel. Four of the games ended fairly quickly all going to the Briton Ferry team. Only board 2 lasted any length of time with John Ward and Albert Easton battling out a tight endgame. In the end John overcame the 300 point grading difference and stopped the whitewash. 4-1 to Brunel and a top spot position after 2 matches.
With October fast approaching it is time to put out a reminder that the West Wales Congress takes place over the weekend of the 11th- 13th. Les Philpin (newsilure@hotmail.com) is the man to contact if you want take part.
