The 81st Annual General Meeting of the West Wales Chess League is to be held at Briton Ferry Constitutional Club, Graig House, Graig Road, Briton Ferry, SA11 2YY on Thursday 21st June 2018 at 7:15pm.

A number of proposals / resolutions have been put forward and those members present will be given the opportunity to vote on them. You need to be there to vote as the League does not have a proxy voting system.

The Proposals are as follows:

1. Proposal by Hywel Griffiths, seconded by Martyn Griffiths Team Competition Rules 3.5 All players must record their games move by move, up to the last 5 minutes of any time control (but see Rule 7).’ Add: ‘ A player may reply to his opponent’s move before recording it if he so wishes. He must record his previous move before making another.’ This extra information clarifies the meaning of ‘move by move’.

2. Proposal by Hywel Griffiths, seconded by Martyn Griffiths Team Competition Rules 3.11 Add: a final sentence ‘ Should a team default a third time there will be automatic disqualification from the league.’

3. Proposal by Mike Cleaves, seconded by Dennis Jones Constitutional amendment Para 11, Agenda to include a section of 'Any Other Business' (N.B. As per constitution para 16 this would require a two thirds majority of all members present)

4. Proposal by Mike Cleaves, seconded by Dennis Jones I propose that all clubs competing in the leagues play their matches at home and away venues according to 'Team Competition Rules' 1.2 which is, "Each team shall play at least one home and one away match against every other team in its Division with the possible exception of the Minor league where the number and organisation of matches shall be at the discretion of the executive committee."

5. Proposal by WWCL Executive Committee That WWCL will cover the nominal fee per club to cover WCU insurance.

6. Proposal by WWCL Executive Committee · There will not be an increase in WWCL fees for 2018/19. · The increase in WCU fees 2018/19 collected by WWCL will not be subsidised by the WWCL.

7. Proposal by Peter Bevan, seconded by Les Philpin Team Competition Rules That Rule 3.4 be amended as follows - Replace the paragraph starting with ' In all Divisions except the Minor League, the rate of play is 30 moves in 1 hour. On completion of 30 moves by both players' and ending with ' all remaining moves in the time available to him' With - 'In all Divisions except the Minor League, all moves must be completed within 1 hour and 30 minutes.' So we are proposing doing away with having two time controls and just having a flat period of one and a half hours for a player to make all their moves.
