The Annual General Meeting and prize giving of the West Wales Chess League is being held on Monday 15th June 2015 at the Coopers Arms in Plasmarl: start time 7:30pm. All members are entitled to attend, stand for office and vote on any resolutions proposed.

With the League competition finished the first two weeks of May were devoted to the semi-finals of the various Knock Out competitions.

The semi-finals for the A.D. Nicholson Shield restricted to players graded 1400 or under matched Castell Nedd Tribunes against Upper Killay Eagles and Morriston C against Woodman B. Tribunes made light work of their heat with a 3½ - ½ victory while the other match was much closer with Morriston C winning by a narrow 2½-1½. Tribunes and Morriston will now meet in the final.

The Richard E Jones semi-finals (restricted to players graded 1800 or under) saw Castell Nedd Senators take on Briton Ferry Giants to see who would go forward to meet White Knights B. To all intents and purposes it was a one sided affair with Senators taking the honours 4-0.

In the Open section for the Stan Fortt Trophy Morriston A made no mistake against Briton Ferry Brunel with a 4-0 win, ending Briton Ferry’s involvement in any of the sections. The other semi-final was a walkover for White Knights A with Nidum unable to raise a team. Morriston and White Knights now meet in the final.

For the first time in many years the three finals will be restricted to only three clubs with Castell Nedd, Morriston and White Knights putting forward two teams each. Finals day is Monday 1st June at the Coopers Arms, Plasmarl (7:30pm start).

Finally the document section of the website has had a few additions to the Past Winners page and now includes Divisions 4 & 5, the Knockout Cups and the Rapidplay championship. To see them click the "Documents" link followed by going to Past Winners on the drop down box. Anyone seeing errors or omissions should advise the League secretary.
