The final competition of the League season was the Rapidplay Tournament held on Saturday 6th June. This tournament consisted of 5 rounds with each competitor getting 30 minutes per round to complete all their moves. The winner takes home the A.O. Jones Trophy and there are grading prizes for the lower ranked players. Alan Young came first, winning the trophy for the second time, while FM Carl Strugnell, William Hewitt and last year’s winner Jason Garcia all came joint 2nd. Grading prizes went to Paul Scott (U1600), Paul Meara (U1300) and Joe Spooner (U1200).

The sharp eyed amongst you may have noticed that the top menu on the website has changed slightly. The “Match Card” item is now “Match Card and Games”. Previously games were hidden away under links but a few problems in loading them has prompted a move towards using the Chess Microbase site to host them.
