BF Bluebell clinched the second division title by winning their last match of the season. They beat CN Tribunes ½-4½ to finish 4 points ahead of their own Giants team who went down, a couple of days later, to White Knights D 1½-3½. The win for White Knights D means that if they win their last match of the season against Upper Killay Harriers they will finish in second place courtesy of a superior game point total. Bluebell will now be promoted to the first division and unless there are structural changes this division will contain three teams each from BF Nidum, Morriston and White Knights and one from Castell Nedd. The only other match played was between Morriston E and UK Harriers both of whom had lost their last few matches. The welcome win went the way of Harriers 1½-3½ and put an end to their four match losing streak.

The fourth round of the Individual West Wales Championship (for the EJ Clarke Trophy) took place on the 20th April at Upper Killay with just over half the matches played. The final round, which everyone is expected to attend, is being held on the 16th May so the remaining matches will need to be played before then. Results to date are given below.

The final event of the week was the Individual Rapidplay Championship for the AO Jones Trophy. It was held at the Briton Ferry Constitutional Club on the 23rd April and coincided with birthday celebrations for David Merryweather who, believe it or not, has reached his eightieth year. The entrants were more than happy to join in the celebrations, congratulate David, and tuck into the fantastic buffet provided! A good day was had by all and the competition was eventually won for the second year in a row by Alan Young. He defeated Nicholas Evans on time in an extremely close tie break playoff. Individual scores were: Alan Young & Nicholas Evans 4½; Ian Jones & Carl Halpin 3; Bob Moore, Albert Easton, Joe Spooner & Paul Bevan 2; June Evans & Janet Evans 1. The event was controlled by Nicholas.
