Divisions 2 and 3 Unpredictable.

The two matches in Division 1 last week had more to do with the bottom of the table than the top. White Knights C faced Morriston B knowing that a result of sorts would take them above Emperors, even if only temporarily. The 4-1 defeat saw them match Emperors' game points but it was a situation that only lasted a couple of days until Emperors played White Knights B in Llanelli. As it happened only a draw between Malcolm Probert and Anthony Beck allowed Emperors to avoid the whitewash but the half point gained moved Emperors back above White Knights C.

In Division 2 BF Giants held their higher ranked compatriots BF Bluebell to a surprise draw. The result keeps Giants in top spot with De la Beche A moving into second after a 3½-1½ win away to White Knights D. This division is becoming unpredictable.

The one match played in Division 3 saw top of the table UK Harriers lose 3-2 away to Morriston E with the result being settled by a Harriers default. Harriers remain top, however, but with 4 defaults are now starting to incur penalty points.

The result of the Lightning Tournament held on the 5th September is old news but better late than never:

It was a four way tie for first with Bill Hewitt, Ian Jones, Mike Burrows and Steve Morgan all finishing on 4 from 5. Guto Neave, Peter Bevan and Les Philpin finished on 3 with Guto getting the prize for best result from a player graded under 1450. Paul Scott, Paul Bevan, John Ward and Janet Evans had 2, while Tony Goodchild and Joe Spooner had 1. The unfortunate Norman Speak brought up the rear. No draws!
