The season got off to an earlier than expected start with the Port Talbot v Nidum B match scheduled for the 31st October brought forward to yesterday 22nd August. Although Port Talbot were out graded on every board honours were shared and the recently promoted team have shown that they mean business.

League matches start in earnest on the 9th September and full details of the fixtures are available on this site.

In addition it is worth mentioning that the West Wales 46th Week-end Congress takes place over the weekend of 11th-13th October and that Les Philpin is now accepting entries. It is being held at the Mercure Hotel on Swansea's Enterprise Zone and it is an excellent opportunity to meet players from various associations.

Following on from the Congress is the West Wales Individual Championship for the E.J. Clarke Trophy. The first round is taking place on Wednesday 16th October at the Upper Killay Chess Club. It is open only to members of the League and entries will need to be sent in advance to June Evans our Tournament Organiser.

The League Year Book is in the process of being distributed and members should receive their individual copies at the start of the season.
