Emperors 1 vs Nidum 4
Well, it was always going to be wasn't it but the match was closer than the score-line. Matthew, as usual exploited small weaknesses to take control of the game. Wayne should have won. He lost his last piece to stop a passed pawn but then had 2 passed pawns against a knight. If he had not delayed his King advance he would have won. The other three went to the death. Mike and Andrew ended what they termed a 'boring' game, with 4 pawns each. Alan played a passive opening and paid the penalty but Hywel just lost control in the closing 10 minutes - perhaps spotting something which wasn't there.
