On Monday two rearranged matches were played KO Cup competitions so it is probably time for a quick recap.

Stanley Fortt Memorial Cup (Open Section)

With 5 teams competing this section had to be organised so that there was just the one quarter final with the other three teams getting a bye into the semi-finals. Some initial confusion meant that the quarter final which was between Morriston Alekhine and De la Beche A did not take place until the Monday just gone (17th Feb). It was a comfortable 3-1 victory for the Morriston team with De la Beche’s only win coming thanks to Sipho Donovan on board 3. Morriston A must now meet Castell Nedd Emperors to decide who goes forward to meet White Knights A in the final. The semi-final between Nidum and White Knights A was played some time ago with the Knights also having a 3-1 win.

Richard E Jones Major Trophy (Under 1800 Section)

The remaining quarter-final in this section also took place on Monday just gone with Morriston Benko hosting Castell Nedd Senators. Facing a stronger Morriston team the Senators did well on the two middle boards where Anthony Beck and John Davies both drew against tough opposition but wins for Morriston on boards 1 and 4 ensured them of the victory.

The line up for the two semi-finals means that Morriston B will be away to De la Beche B while White Knights B will be at home to White Knights C.

A.D. Nicholson Shield (Under 1400 Section)

This was the only section where all the scheduled quarter final matches were played in the allocated week back at the end of January.

The semi-finals will feature Briton Ferry Brunel at home to De la Beche D and Morriston English at home to Upper Killay Harriers.
