The new season is almost upon us and League matches are scheduled to start during the week beginning Monday 14th September.

Before then, however, we had the traditional Lightning Tournament. This took place at the Coopers Arms in Plasmarl on Monday 7th September with all the usual suspects attending

With players given only 10 seconds to think of their move it was a fast moving event that allowed Ian Eustis, the controller, to fit in six rounds.

The winner was top ranked player Richard Cleveland on 6 out of 6 with other scores as follows:

Peter Bevan 5; Ian Jones, John Ward and Tony Goodchild 4; Albert Easton, June Evans and Ralph Cook 3; Carl Halpin and Lyndon Todd 2½; Janet Evans and Norman Speak 2; Joe Spooner 1.
