The annual Lightning Tournament was held on Monday 5th September 2022 at the Morriston Chess Club.

Not surprisingly , considering the venue, it was dominated by Morriston players with only Bill Hewitt of the White Knights club the odd man out. The newly arrived players from the Nidum Club also made their presence known.

Equal First on 4 out of 5 Adam Musson, Bill Hewitt (White Knights), and Ian Jones (see photo)

Moss McCarthy and Bob Moore finished on 3.5 with the rest following on

Andrew Gibbons , Duncan Williams, Les Philpin and Daniel Chung all on 3

Peter Bevan, Farouq Nasir on 2.5 ( Farouq wins Junior Grading Prize )

Roger Jenkins, Louis Ba Thein and John Ward on 2

Karl Beer, Sam Pritchard and Grace Chung on 1 with John Giannini bringing up the rear. Special mention needs to be made of Farouq , the youngest player taking part, who had a couple of outstanding results against much stronger players. Certainly a name to look out for. Ethan Chung and Ian Eustis controlled.
