On board 2, Richard Cleveland won two pawns against Nicholas Evans then swapped rooks and won the endgame. On board 3, Peter Bevan won in a Kings In Nina Samisch as black, on board 4, Ian Jones sacrificed a queen temporarily against Keith Downey in another Sicilian Defence to win and on board 5, Chris Daniel, with two rooks and a bishop against Chris Howells's Queen and bishop managed to create sufficient counter-play to secure a draw.
