As cup matches go those played on finals night on Monday 1st June turned out to be as close as they come with all the games hard fought. Twelve games in total with eight draws and only four games proving victorious for one player or another. In the Open section (Stan Fortt Cup) Morriston A triumphed over White Knights A thanks to a win on top board for Carl Strugnell over Bill Hewitt. The other three games were drawn.

It was a similar story in the Under 1400 match (A.D. Nicholson Shield) where Castell Nedd Tribunes defeated Morriston C when Aled Jenkins beat John Ward on board 4. Again the other three games were drawn.

The Under 1800 section (Richard E. Jones Trophy) was arguably the closest with a win for David Buttell (White Knights B) over Martyn Griffiths (Castell Nedd Senators) being cancelled out by a win for Hywel Griffiths over Chris Daniel. Draws on the other two boards meant that bottom board elimination kicked in and after the bottom three boards were eliminated one after the other White Knights emerged the winners. At the end of the evening all three clubs involved went home with a victory each - Morriston winners in the Open, White Knights winners in the Under 1800 section and Castell Nedd winners in the Under 1400.
