League The top three teams in Division 1 were all in action last week but not against each other. First up was the Morriston A v All Blacks match in what amounted to a fairly one sided contest. Draws by Mal Kingman and Kelvin Haines against much higher rated opponents avoided a total wipe-out. A victory for Morriston 4-1.

Castell-Nedd took on Nidum at Tonna Rugby Club and yet again the higher rated players ruled the roost. ½-4½ in favour of Nidum with Martyn Griffiths’ draw on board 3 stopping the whitewash.

League leaders White Knights A took no chances and showed no compassion in their inter-club match against the own C team. The only surprise was Alan Young’s defeat (rated at 2088) at the hands of Tomasz Miga (1750). Nevertheless 4-1 in favour of the A team who remain a clear 4 points ahead of the chasing pack.

Just the one match in Division 2 with leaders De la Beche A just managing to hang on against a full strength Morriston D team. Draws from Andrew Smith and Joel Chung, together with a win by Eleanor Collins, all against higher rated players, must have given De la Beche something to think about but it was not enough to deprive them of the points. They have five wins from the last five matches and are well clear of their nearest rivals.

There was no action at all in Division 3.

KO Cup Tournament Les Philpin has published the draw for the various sections of the KO Cup Tournament. Drill down from the “Divisions and KO Competitions” tab on the menu for more detail. In the last few seasons the draws after the first round were all pre-ordained and winners could see who they would play in the next round. This season the competition is going back to its original format and there will be additional draws between rounds.
