The first full week saw everything go to plan not least in inter-club matches. In Division 1 Morriston A beat their B team by a comprehensive 4½ - ½ while White Knights A went a bit better by whitewashing their club mates in the C team. In the other two division 1 matches last season?s division 2 rivals, Emperors and Brunel, cancelled each other out while White Knights showed their strength in depth by having their B team whitewash Port Talbot at the Taibach rugby club.

In Division 2 White Knights D and Morriston D shared the points, while the ease with which Castell-Nedd Tribunes beat Briton Ferry Giants 4½-½ was the only surprise of the week. Both these results suggest that last season?s division 3 teams look more than capable of holding their own in the revamped division 2. In the inter-club matches a board 4 default by Hawks allowed Harriers to walk away 3-2 winners and Woodman A easily beat their B team 4-1, again helped by a default
