The Bunnies Bite Back
The Division 1 table has an unfamiliar look but it is correct! Emperors and Brunel fresh from Division 2 do indeed sit happily at the top all thanks to two shock results. On Tuesday Castell-Nedd Emperors were at home to Port Talbot and were comfortably outgraded on every board. Three impressive wins and a draw, however, were more than enough to give them the two points.
Remarkable though this victory was it was overshadowed by Briton Ferry's mind-boggling performance at home to Nidum. The 300-400 point grading difference on every board should have given Nidum a relaxing 5-0 win. Instead they left as 3.5-1.5 losers and are no doubt wondering where it all went wrong. Nidum's next match against Morriston A could now prove crucial in determining whether they have any chance of regaining the Division 1 title.
The results from Division 2 were somewhat more predictable although not without some minor surprises. Morriston C had no intention of repeating last season's defeat against their D team and although the match was not without its moments they managed to whitewash them 5-0. At Llanelli in an encounter that should have favoured White Knights D a close run affair ended in the E team winning 3-2; while at Upper Killay the Merlins only managed a draw against their third team the Hawks. No real surprise, however, at the Woodman A v Tribunes match with Woodman A overcoming their opponents 4-1.
