Venues at Risk

The League consists of just six clubs and we all know that finding venues that are not expensive is difficult. The consequence of this is that four of these clubs meet in licensed premises.

These licensed premises stay open because they profit, or cover their expenses, by selling food and drink. In spite of this there appears to be a temptation for League members to bring in their own refreshments. The landlords of these premises are justified in taking offence at this and are likely to consider refusing the use of their venue. The Morriston club know this only too well as they have, in the past, been evicted from just such a venue for just such a reason and it is likely that other clubs have received warnings.

A reminder, therefore, that League members should not bring their own food or drink to matches that are being played in licensed premises. Doing so risks the home club losing the use of these premises.

It is possible that a motion will be put forward at the next AGM that will allow the League to take action against individuals who put the use of a venue at risk. The fact that such a rule is being considered highlights how serious the situation has become.
