White Knights A defeat Morriston A
Although it was a quiet week in the League with just 4 fixtures played they all proved significant one way or another. In division 1 White Knights A traveled to Morriston to take on Morriston A. Neither team was at full strength but it was obviously a hard fought match with none of the games being settled by a draw. By the end of the evening, however, the Knights had achieved victory by 3 boards to 2 and in the process leapt above Nidum into top spot. With one victorious match against a major competitor under their belt the Knights’ campaign to retain their title is off to a good start.
In division 2 the BF Brunel team was away to Morriston D at Glais with both teams having won their respective previous match. All the games were closely fought but there were no breakthroughs on the top three boards and they all ended in draws. Only on boards 4 and 5 were there decisive results but with one win apiece the match ended in a draw. It moves Brunel above De la Beche A in the table thanks to game points but with a match in hand De la Beche are in a good position. Next week’s encounter between these two teams should prove interesting.
Division 3 saw De la Beche B welcome newcomers Morriston G to their venue at Sketty. In truth, however, it was not much of a welcome with Morriston’s board 1 the only member of their team going home with a result. Defeat on the other 4 boards gave De la Beche a comfortable 4-1 win. The final match of the week was between Morriston F at home to UK Harriers. Harriers turned up a player short but wins on boards 1, 2 & 3 gave them a 3-2 victory and they went home with the match points. Although they have won all three of their matches to date the Harriers have already notched up 3 defaults. Anymore defaults and they will start to accumulate penalty points.
