With round 3 of the E.J. Clarke Championship taking place there was a limited League program last week.

The one match in Division 1 was between White Knights A and University A. The Knights took the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Division with a 3½-1½ win. They are now 7 points ahead of the chasing pack and have yet to lose a match.

It was somewhat busier in Division 2 where four matches were played. A close match between White Knights D and University B resulted in the Knights winning 3-2. The result keeps the Knights in third spot and close enough to the leaders to keep them on their toes.

Merlins notched up their second win in a row by making it look easy with a 4-1 win over Morriston C. This, when taken together with the 4½ -½ win by Morriston B over De la Beche A, moves Merlins up a place and further away from relegation. Morriston B meanwhile extend their lead at the top of the division to 3 points. The final match in this division was a 4½-½ win for BF Giants over a four player Morriston D team. Morriston D have now lost all their matches with the exception of a surprise win over University B

It is now looking increasingly likely that Morriston B who voluntarily dropped down from Division 1 last season could now see themselves back up there while another Morriston team sees themselves dropping down into Division 3.

With the St Michael’s v Brunel match postponed to a later date the very last match of the week was in Division 3 when Morriston F were at home to UK Harriers. The 3½-1½ win for Harriers sees them stay in third place just waiting for De la Beche B or BF Brunel to slip.
