Three matches in Division 1 and all going the way of the stronger team, as might be expected. First up was the Morriston A v Emperors match featuring yet another excellent win for Michael Beck. It was not enough, however, to save his team from defeat and the Emperors went down 3½-1½.

The following night Morriston B travelled to Llanelli to face White Knights A. A result for Morriston was never on the cards and only a draw for Mike Burrows on board 2 stopped them from being totally annihilated. The result means that White Knights A are just a point behind Nidum but with a match in hand.

The other Division 1 match was an inter-club affair between White Knights B & C and although the B team defaulted their bottom board wins and draws on the other four saw the B team take the match 3-2. The result leaves White Knights C still without a match point and 3 points adrift of next placed Emperors, although with matches in hand.

There were also three matches in Division 2. Merlins visited the Coopers Arms to take on Morriston C and finally came away with their first match point of the season. The result still leaves both teams firmly entrenched in the bottom half of the table.

In a busy week for White Knights their D team turned up at the Bluebell Hotel where, in spite of fielding a strong team, they found themselves up against an even stronger Bluebell team. 3½-1½ for the hosts to leave White Knights D second from bottom and Bluebell sitting pretty with 3 wins and 1 draw from 5 matches.

The final match in Division 2 resulted in the University’s winning streak coming to an end. Thanks to wins on the bottom boards and a board 2 draw their opponents Giants held them to a draw and suddenly this division is once again wide open.

Two matches in Division 3. Morriston D who were away to Tribunes just scraped a win (2-3) thanks to victories on the bottom 3 boards while a couple of nights later Morriston E were roundly beaten (1-4) when away to De la Beche B. Morriston D leapfrog their E team club mates thanks to a much superior game point tally but with just 2 match points separating 1st and 4th in a 6 team division who knows where this is going to end up.
