Winter break

The week before the winter break was a quiet one in Division 1. One match played and one match postponed meant that there was little change in the rankings. The one match played saw BF Brunel and Morriston B cancel each other out and share the points. The 1 point gained by Morriston B was enough to take them above White Knights B but only because M comes before W in the alphabet!

It was a bit busier in Division 2 with four matches taking place. White Knights D took on BF Giants and won their third match in a row by the narrowest of score lines (3-2 to White Knights). The following night White Knights E went a bit better in their match away to UK Hawks. Bottom of the table Hawks were shown no mercy and whitewashed 0-5. A result that keeps White Knights E well in contention for the Divisional title. In the other match played at Upper Killay the predominately junior team that is Morriston E came away winners 3½-1½ against UK Harriers. Harriers did not help themselves by defaulting on board 4, a second for an Upper Killay team this season and only the fourth in this division so far. The final match played saw BF Bluebell travel to Sketty where they defeated De la Beche B 1-4. With this result Bluebell maintain a two point cushion over the rest of the field but with four teams breathing down their necks and waiting for them to slip their position is far from secure.

As we go into the Winter break congratulations must go to Richard Cleveland and Carl Strugnell. Of all the players in the League who have played in more than one match these two are the only ones with a 100% record. 8 out of 8 for Richard and 7 out of 7 for Carl. The Morriston club are no doubt hoping that their run of form is maintained!
