AGM 2017
As scheduled the League held its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 20th June at the Neath RFC. It was a relatively low key affair with the League Officers reporting that all the various competitions had been successfully completed. Divisions 2 & 3 had proved particularly competitive with the final positions not decided until the very last matches. The officers' reports detailing all the final winners can be found in the “Info & Archives” section under Annual Reports.
Only two resolutions were put before the meeting and both were passed. The first resolution reversed a couple of competition requirements that specified the number of teams in Division 1 and the number of matches that must be played. It was argued that these issues should be decided by the Executive Committee and a majority of those present agreed. The second resolution revolved around the interpretation of a KO Cup rule. It concerned “Tossing for Colours” and whether the winner of the toss had the right to choose. A fairly heated discussion arose but in the end it was decided that the team that won the toss would not be given a choice but would be white on the odd numbered boards.
The election of officers followed the usual pattern and the existing officers were more or less re-elected “en masse”.
The meeting ended with the presentation of Trophies.
There is n Executive Committee meeting scheduled for next Wednesday (28th June) to decide League structure and discuss fixture requirements. Any club that has not advised the League Secretary of their fixture requirements and planned team entries is advised to do so ASAP.
