With interest building for our talk on Friday 28th February, we’d like to put out a reminder to sign up in advance so you can come along and take part in what should be a very interesting afternoon.

The session will begin with rook theory aimed at under-1800 players. Whether this is a brand-new topic for you or a chance to refresh familiar ideas, it promises to be valuable — and I’ll certainly be learning from it myself.

After the first half hour from the league legend Bill Hewitt, Alexis Harakis will take over. As a FIDE Master, Alexis will be sharing insights into middlegame play, with material that should be useful for players of all standards.

Thank you to everyone who has already confirmed they’ll be attending to support West Wales junior chess and future coaching initiatives. If this event is successful, we’ll be inviting suggestions for juniors who may benefit most from upcoming coaching sessions. This is an important step in helping newer juniors develop, represent the county, strengthen our league, and compete in tournaments.
