With the Christmas break over the League now enters a fairly hectic period. Three weeks of League activity are followed by the opening rounds of the KO Cup and then the annual rapidplay tournament for the A.O. Jones Trophy.

The AO Jones Rapidplay tournament is taking place a bit earlier than usual this season. It is on Saturday 1st February and follows on the heels of the week put aside for the KO Cup matches. It is taking place at the Upper Killay Recreational Hall, Fairwood Lane, Upper Killay, Swansea, SA2 7HP with a 10 am start. It is an “Open” tournament organised as a 5 Round swiss event and the rate of play is all moves in 30 minutes (no increments). Last year it attracted 34 entries.

PRIZES will depend on entry. First prize is guaranteed to be a minimum of £50 with other prizes & grading prizes depending on entry. The AO Jones Trophy (currently held by Ian Jones) will be awarded to the highest placed player registered in the West Wales Chess League. ENTRY Fee £7
