Join the 50th Dyfed Chess Congress: A Must-Attend Tournament!

The West Wales Chess League is excited to promote the upcoming 50th Dyfed Chess Congress, taking place from 7th to 9th February 2025 at Aberystwyth University. This prestigious tournament is open to chess players of all levels and offers a fantastic opportunity to compete in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere.

Tournament Highlights

Categories:

1.	Open (FIDE Rated): Open to all FIDE-registered members of the Welsh Chess Union or other national bodies.
2.	Under 1700 Major (FIDE Rated): Designed for players with a FIDE rating under 1700.

Entry Fees:

•	£30 – Major and Open
•	£25 – Dyfed Chess Association members
•	£20 – Juniors

Payment can be made via cash or bank transfer. Be sure to include your name and “entry” in the payment reference for bank transfers.

•	7th February:
•	Round 1: 7:00 PM
•	8th February:
•	Round 2: 10:00 AM
•	Round 3: 3:00 PM
•	9th February:
•	Round 4: 10:00 AM
•	Round 5: 3:00 PM

Prizes

With a £600 prize fund, the tournament promises exciting rewards for participants across both categories. The exact prize distribution will depend on the number of entries in each section.

Important Information

•	FIDE ID: If you do not yet have a FIDE ID, contact your national federation in advance. Welsh players can email internationalratingofficer@welshchessunion.uk with their name and date of birth for assistance.
•	Medical Assistance: The venue is within a 5-minute drive of Bronglais Hospital, and the organisers can provide alternative access if needed.
