West Wales Chess League Rapidplay 2024

AO Jones Trophy Saturday 18th May 2024 9.30 am start 6 Round swiss event Venue – Morriston Rugby Club, Heol Gwernen, Cwmrhydyceirw, Swansea SA6 6JS

RATE OF PLAY - 20 minutes & 5 second increments for each game

PRIZES will depend on entry. First prize in the Open Section will be a minimum £50 with additional prizes depending on entries.

Open Section & Under 1500 Section

All players must be current members of the Welsh Chess Union.

Entry Fee £8, payable in cash on the day.

Open Section

Open to all players. The AO Jones Trophy will be awarded to the highest placed registered member of the West Wales Chess League in the Open section. In the event of a tie, the trophy will be shared.

Under 1500 Section (based on January 2024 WCU grading list)

As long as there are sufficient entries, we will run a U-1500 section as well. Players U-1500 will be entered into the U-1500 section unless they advise, when entering, that they wish to play in the Open section.

Venue

Morriston Rugby club is about 5 minutes away from Junctions 45 & 46 on the M4. The event will take place in the first floor bar area & there is a lift for disabled access. There is free car parking at the venue. We will finish by 5.15 pm as there is a function in the room that evening.

Refreshments Tea and coffee can be purchased throughout the day, downstairs at the main bar.

Players cannot bring their own food or drinks to consume at the venue.

Sandwiches / rolls are available in the main bar & there are bakeries, cafes, etc. in Morriston.
