Chess in our area is not restricted to scheduled competition matches or games. Steve Jeacock has advised us of two, more casual, chess groups being run in Swansea libraries.

The first, (his own) is based in Killay Library and runs every Saturday morning between 10-1. There are around eighteen adults playing friendly and casual competition games. He is now inviting juniors to join the group. Killay Library: The Ridgeway, Killay, Swansea, SA2 7QS.

The second group has just set up at Brynhyfryd Library and will run on Wednesdays at 2pm. Brynhyfryd Library: Llangyfelach Road, Brynhyfryd, Swansea, SA5 9LH. These groups are there to support local chess and encourage more players to come and play. Over the last couple of years five of his players have gone on to join the Upper Killay and De La Beche Chess Clubs.

The sessions are free and all are welcome.
