The final League matches of the season have now all been played and only the Closed Championship and the KO Cup competitions remain to be completed.

In Division 2 Morriston D played host to De la Beche B and having defeated them 4-1 in their previous encounter were probably optimistic about the likely result. However, in a reversal of fortunes De la Beche B proved to be the stronger side and with both teams defaulting bottom board it ended 3-1 in favour of the visitors.

White Knights D having won 8 out of their last nine matches needed a win in their last match to push them into second spot behind BF Bluebell. Away to UK Harriers their top two boards were held to draws but wins on the bottom three gave them the necessary match points. 4-1 to White Knights D. Their higher game point total then took then into second place with BF Giants coming in third.

What should have been the last match of the season turned into a walkover for Morriston E when UK Hawks failed to raise a team citing the holiday weekend as the main reason for player unavailability.

In the KO Cup sections there were three matches. In the fight for the Richard E Jones Trophy (Under1800 category) CN Senators took on White Knights B in the last quarter -final. Although the match ended all square White Knights continue into the semi-final after the bottom board elimination rule was applied. White Knights will now play BF Nidum B on the 11th May for a place in the final. In the same section the semi final between Morriston B and BF Nidum C was played. Having just scrapped through the quarter-final Morriston B were more convincing this time round thanks to wins on the top two boards; 3-1 to Morriston. Morriston B will now face either White Knights B or Nidum B in the final on the 23rd May. The other cup match that was played was in the Under 1400 category for the A.D. Nicholson Shield. De la Beche B played BF Nidum D with the winner going forward to play White Knights C in the final. It was close but BF Nidum D eventually triumphed 2½-1½.

There is now no more action until Wednesday the 11th May when White Knights B take on Nidum B in the only semi-final still to be played. The last round of the Closed Championship is Monday 16th May and all the KO Cup finals will be played on Monday 23rd May. The season ends on Thursday 9th June with the Annual General Meeting at the Briton Ferry Club.
