Nidum and Morriston A Cancel Each Other Out

The League got off to a poor start last week with Morriston’s venue becoming unavailable at, literally, the last minute. Teams turned up to find the Cooper’s Arms closed and there were more than a few unhappy mutterings. It meant that the Morriston B v White Knights A match was not played and deprived the Knights of a chance to overtake both Morriston A and BF Nidum. The first clash at the top of the table between Nidum and Morriston A took place the following night with both teams hoping to gain the advantage. In the end they cancelled each other out and the resulting draw means that White Knights A are now the only team not to drop a point - a situation they will want to maintain when they meet Nidum next week.

Two other matches were played in Division 1. Morriston C picked up their first win of the season against an under strength De la Beche A (½-4½) while White Knights C just managed to overcome BF Brunel (2-3). These results take Morriston C above Brunel in the table and interestingly also take White Knights C above their B team compatriots.

In Division 2 the Morriston D v UK Merlins match fell by the wayside due to Morriston’s venue being closed so there were only two matches played. BF Bluebell played host to CN Tribunes but showed them little charity winning comfortably 4-1. Two days later BF Giants welcomed Morriston E and found themselves just scrapping a win 3-2, a victory made difficult by fine performances from Morriston’s younger players. Both Briton Ferry teams now sit alongside White Knights E at the top of the table with 10 points, followed closely by White Knights D and UK Merlins on 8.

Finally, a final reminder that the West Wales Congress starts this Friday November 20th. Contact Les Philpin if you want to enter.
