Three matches in Division 1 last week. First up was between Nidum’s second team the All Blacks and the White Knights C team and there was not much to separate them. There were draws on four of the boards with the result only settled in the Knights’ favour thanks to their win on board 4 (3-2 the final result). The All Blacks continue to be the only team in the League still to get a point and already seemed doomed to relegation.

Second placed Morriston A travelled to the University for their home game against University A. They needed a win to keep in touch with leaders White Knights A and keep in touch they did thanks to wins on three of the boards and draws on the other two. A 4-1 win to Morriston A.

White Knights A had an interclub match with their B team and were obviously intent on taking no chances. The 5-0 win for the A team keeps them firmly in top spot with six wins from six matches and an impressive game point score.

In Division 2 Morriston B made the most of their home match against a slightly weakened De la Beche A. Two wins and three draws across the boards gave the Morriston team a 3½-1½ victory and they continue to head the Division.

White Knights D maintained their position in the chasing pack with a very comfortable 4½-½ win over Morriston C. Only a board 3 draw between Guto Neave and Tony Goodchild stopped the Morriston team from being totally annihilated.

The third match in Division 2 saw BF Giants travel to Upper Killay to face the Merlins. With both teams on the end of a three match losing streak they both needed to get something from this match. At the end of proceedings, however, it was the Giants who managed it with a 3½-1½ victory; a win that bumps them back up to fourth place thanks to a marginally superior game point score.

With UK Hawks postponing their match against BF Brunel there was just the one match in Division 3 and it was between De la Beche C and CN Tribunes. Tribunes now seem to have picked up the pace somewhat and they notched up their second win on the trot. This time it was with a very impressive 4½-½ victory. It lifts them into fourth place.
