No Relegation From Division 1
News
The withdrawal of Nidum B at the start of the season has resulted in Division 1 having 9 teams while Division 2 has 11. If the number of teams stays the same then next season the Executive Committee have determined that one team will be promoted from Division 2 but no team will be relegated from Division 1. Both divisions will, therefore, contain 10 teams.
A reminder that the League's Christmas Charity Handicap Tournament takes place on Monday 15th December at the Morriston Chess Club. There is an entry fee of £3 and a raffle with all monies collected going to Maggie's, a charity providing support for people with cancer.

Nidum's hopes of regaining the Division 1 title took a severe dent last week. They travelled to Llanelli with a full strength team only to find that the opposition were determined to give nothing away. White Knights A 3 Nidum 2 means that Nidum have lost 3 matches out of 7 and their only hope is that Morriston and White Knights falter. White Knights A now leapfrog Morriston A in the table but they have played the extra match. In the other Division 1 match played last week White Knights C away to Port Talbot had a comfortable 4-1 win. With a home match against Morriston A in the offing Port Talbot's woes do not look like getting any easier.
In Division 2 Castell-Nedd Tribunes notched up their fourth win in a row by beating White Knights D 3-2. They overtake UK Harriers to go fourth and with a match in hand they are well placed to challenge Morriston C and UK Merlins for top spot. The following day BF Giants turned up a player short to play an away match against Harriers but in spite of this they went away the victors 1½ - 3½. On the same night the top of the table clash between UK Merlins and Morriston C also went the way of the visitors with Morriston riding their luck, yet again, and emerging the winners 2-3. Morriston remain top, but only just. The final match of the week saw Woodman A score their best win of the season by beating UK Hawks 4½-½. All in all not a good week for the Upper Killay teams.
