No Surprises or Shocks

Three matches in Division 1 last week with no shocks or surprises. White Knights B managed to eke out a 3-2 win over club mates White Knights C and keep themselves in third spot in the table while on the same night Nidum played BF Brunel for the second time this season and were no doubt determined not to succumb to a second shock defeat. They duly came up with the goods by winning 3½-1½, a win that moves them into fourth place with two matches in hand. The final match in Division 1 saw CN Emperors travel to Port Talbot to meet a team that has languished on the bottom spot since the end of November. 2½ game points courtesy of their bottom three boards were enough to give Port Talbot the draw and the match point gained good enough to move them two spots higher in the table.

Four matches in Division 2 started with Morriston C taking on White Knights E in a match rearranged from last October. A 4-1 win for Morriston C with the only real surprise being Morriston C's board order. On the same night Woodman B, second from bottom, took on fourth placed Giants, got the draw and gained a valuable point. Woodman A visited Tribunes the following day and scraped through the winners 2-3 thanks to a generous draw acceptance by Tribunes on board three. Finally the inter-club match between Merlins and Harriers predictably went the way of the Merlins 4-1 and keeps them in third place one point behind Morriston C. Woodman A occupy second place by virtue of having played two more matches than Merlins and having a few extra game points.
