It shows great skill and dedication in the game of chess to represent Wales as a junior in the Gorny Cup, competing against the other countries of the United Kingdom.

This tree is dedicated to Christopher Davis, a talented Welsh chess player who proudly represented his country three times in this competition. Christopher also competed in many important events in West Wales chess, including the European Championships at both under-14 and under-18 levels. Remarkably, he began representing Wales from the age of just nine.

Christopher sadly passed away in August 2024, at the young age of 40. His passion, talent, and achievements leave a lasting mark on Welsh chess, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him, both within and beyond the chess community.
