Refreshments at venues
When Castell Nedd Chess Club lost their venue in Catwg primary school there was a huge and difficult hunt for a venue. It took about four moves, some of which weren’t the best for their players and visiting teams, until their current premises was found. Ask any of the experienced players in the league and they’ll definitely point out that, when this issue occurs, it can be one of the hardest matters to overcome and definitely one of the biggest threats to a club collapsing.
Many of the league’s clubs are held at premises selling food and drink and the pubs and clubs often allow free or reduced costs thanks to the players that will spend at their premises. It is vital that refreshments are not brought to matches. Even if you are not concerned about the default points or the possibility of being prevented from playing at a tournament, please do consider the clubs that rely on that venue.
Thank you.
