For the second week in a row all 10 teams in Division 1 were in action. Morriston A and Morriston C were at home to BF Nidum and De la Beche respectively and both met with success. It was a full strength Morriston A team and it needed to be with wins on the top two boards coupled with two draws just allowing them to scrape through 3-2. Morriston C had less of a struggle winning 4-1, with De la Beche’s points coming from draws on boards 2 & 3.

All three White Knights teams were at home with the first match being their B team against CN Emperors. In spite of turning up a board short Emperors nevertheless walked away the winners thanks to three excellent wins on boards 2,3 and 5. The following night White Knights C made short work of BF Brunel with only a win by Robert Wood on board 4 stopping the whitewash. The 4-1 win moves White Knights C into fourth place just above their B team. On the same night White Knights A took on Morriston B in what should have been an easy victory for them. In the event, however, the Knights just scrapped through 3-2 thanks to wins on boards 2 and 4 coupled with draws on 1 & 3. Yet again Andrew Smith proved something of a thorn in the White Knights side by winning for Morriston on board 4.

As the table stands Nidum are guaranteed to finish 3rd while De la Beche will finish in bottom place and will be relegated. All other places are still up for grabs with the struggle for top spot going all the way. It is almost certain that the White Knights A v Morriston A match scheduled for Wednesday 23rd Match will decide the title.

It was somewhat quieter in Division 2 with only six teams in action. On the Tuesday BF Bluebell took on De la Beche B with wins on boards 3, 4 and 5 deciding the match 3½-1½ in Bluebell’s favour. Wednesday saw a weakened UK Merlins play host to a stronger than normal Morriston D and go down 2-3 thanks to two wins and two draws for the Morriston team. Finally on the Thursday BF Giants “welcomed” a four player Morriston E team by comprehensively defeating them 4-1. These results mean that Bluebell still have a 2 point buffer between themselves and the chasing field but as there are still only 4 points separating the top five teams there is still some way to go.
