Three matches in Division 1, all with predictable outcomes.

Morriston A were at home to White Knights C with only a surprise win by Malcolm Probert on board 3 stopping the whitewash and keeping the score at 4-1.

In the inter-club match between Nidum and All Blacks the All Blacks were given yet another kick towards Division 2 when their club mates trounced them 5-0. While it is arithmetically possible that the All Blacks could avoid relegation it is doubtful that any bets are going that way.

In a similar vein the inter-club tussle between White Knights A & B was also one sided and ended 4½-½ in favour of the A team. White Knights A remain solidly on track to regain the title that they lost to Nidum last season.

Last week’s two Division 2 matches featured teams from the Morriston club but with no joy for either of them. Morriston D hosted De la Beche A who were too strong on the top 3 boards for Morriston to make any impact. There was some consolation on the bottom boards but the 2-3 win for De la Beche A ensured that Morriston D stayed firmly rooted to the bottom of the table and almost certainly doomed to relegation – unless their C team takes their place! Morriston C visited Swansea University for what was listed as their home match but except for a bottom board win by Joel Chung and a draw by Dave Toner on board 2 they made little impression. The 1½-3½ win for the University virtually guarantees them a fourth place or better finish.

The top two teams in Division 3 were both in action last week and both emerged relatively unscathed. De la Beche B travelled one player short to Upper Killay to play the Harriers where, in spite of giving away the default point, they took the win by 3 points to 2. BF Brunel also travelled. Their journey was to Sketty to play De la Beche C in a match that turned out to be a bit closer than they would have wanted. Two wins and two draws were enough, however, and the 2-3 win allowed them to keep their 100% record and stay ahead of De la Beche B.
