This year sees the 50th Anniversary of the West Wales Week-end Congress. It is taking place over the weekend of the17th – 19th November at the Mercure Hotel, Phoenix Way, Llansamlet, Swansea, SA7 9EG

OPEN, MAJOR & MINOR SECTIONS

All players in the Open and Major Events must be registered with the Welsh Chess Union or their respective national body.

To enter the Major you must have an under 1850 rating and for the Minor under 1500.

Note that one entry form circulating states that the Open section will be FIDE rated. This is an error. None of the three sections will be FIDE rated.

Entry fees are:

Open: £25

Major: £22

Minor: £20

Schedule of Rounds

Round 1 – Friday 17th November 6.30 p.m.

Round 2 – Saturday 18th November 9.30 a.m.

Round 3 – Saturday 18th November 2.45 p.m.

Round 4 – Sunday 19th November 9.30 a.m.

Round 5 – Sunday 19th November 2.45 p.m

The rate of play is all moves in 90 minutes with 30 seconds cumulative increment for each move starting from the first move.

Players may claim a ½ point bye in any of the first four rounds provided it is requested with the entry.
