Division 1

Ten matches into the season and White Knights C finally got off the mark! In a hard fought match away to Morriston B the Knights took home a point and finally got a reward for their perseverance.

Emperors at home put up stiff resistance against Morriston A but lost by the same score as in their two previous encounters - 1½-3½ thanks to wins for Morriston on boards 1 and 5.

Two nights later in Llanelli White Knights B took on Nidum hoping, no doubt, to get a result that would take the pressure off their A team in their battle to retain the title. In a match that went down to the wire Nidum emerged the victors and yet again replace White Knights A at the top of the table. Nidum will welcome White Knights A on the 31st January and will need at least a draw to keep their hopes alive.

Division 2

After two draws in a row Bluebell got back into winning ways with a convincing 4½-½ win over De La Beche A. It keeps them within striking distance of the University who defeated Giants 3½- 1½ the following night. Giants are now on a losing streak of 4 but are still managing to hold onto third place. It was the same score in favour of White Knights D when they played host to Morriston C. The result takes the Knights above Merlins thanks to a slightly superior game point score. However, with the third placed team on 9 points and the seventh on 8 the relegation zone is still rather wide.

Division 3

Just the two matches in Division 3 and both involved Morriston teams. Morriston D kept their number 1 position with a comprehensive 4½-½ win over UK Hawks who turned up a player short - their first default of the season. Morriston E, however, came up against a resurgent Tribunes. Lacking a win since mid November Tribunes turned their fortunes around with a 3½-1½ win and kept themselves in the title race. Their clash with Morriston D on the 31st January could well prove decisive.
